One million Simplicity and Graco cribs, made in China, are being recalled -- the biggest such recall ever -- after three babies died. Federal regulators on September 21, 2007 announced the recall of about 1 million cribs made by Simplicity Inc. because the drop rail on some of the nation's best-selling models can detach from the crib, creating a dangerous gap that has led to the deaths of at least three children across the United States. The Federal Consumer Products and Safety Commission (CPSC) said it had received reports of three deaths, seven infants trapped and 55 other incidents relating to faulty drop rail hardware and design. In all three deaths, parents had unwittingly installed the drop rails upside down. The recalled Simplicity crib models include: Aspen 3 in 1, Aspen 4 in 1, Nursery-in-a-Box, Crib N Changer Combo, Chelsea and Pooh 4 in 1. The recall also involves the following Simplicity cribs that used the Graco logo: Aspen 3 in 1, Ultra 3 in 1, Ultra 4 in1, Ultra 5 in 1, Whitney and the Trio.
